I graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I received my Master's degree and now my Specialist degree in Counseling at Ole Miss as well.
I have been a counselor in the school system since 1998 and I have been at OBES since 2000. During this time I have obtained my National Certifications in Counseling and School Counseling. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have completed the requirements to be a Registered Play Therapist. I am thrilled to be able to offer that type of therapy at OBES. I have found it to be successful for the children in working through life issues.
I enjoy working with the children at Olive Branch Elementary School and helping them out with problems they have. I have large group counseling classes with all of the children. We discuss many topics such as: friendship, problem-solving, communication skills, emotions, caring and compassion, acceptance, etc.
Small groups and individual counseling are also available. I have led small groups in the area of divorce, grief, social skills, handling anger and frustration, and shyness. In individual counseling, I work with children and their families. I address issues of anxiety, depression, social interactions, anger, behavior and any other concerns that parents or teachers may have.
