Why Jokes?

I always put jokes on my door at school for a couple of reasons.  The first reason being that it is important to start the day off in a positive way.  What is more positive than a joke?  This is a reminder to help us remember to laugh, enjoy others, relax, and live in the moment.  Another reason for jokes is that it stretches and works the brain.  For children to be able to get jokes means they are having to think why it is funny.  They are making word associations and it builds their ability to start thinking without having everything so concrete.  If they can figure out a joke then they can use reason to figure out a problem.
